Good points. Man, I wish I could vote. Roll on citizenship. You might enjoy this. http://artbroken.livejournal.com/1142719.html
In fact, I reckon you and Artbroken (who is a Brisbanite now living in Melbourne) would probably get on like a house on fire.

i was one of the "why?" crowd initially, especially when all there was to go on was concept shots and rumoured specs, but now that they're out in the field, i've had a play around with one at a local JB Hifi, and they intrigue me... i don't know if i would ever use one enough to warrant the purchase, but i can see myself using one as a substitute to magazines and newspapers as you have.

And lately, reading forums and emails on my iphone, just isn't cutting it anymore...

I was amazed about how excited Jobs got at all the incredibly old technology in the iPhone 4. Seriously, five years ago you could get a $50.00 prepaid Nokia that was capable of making video calls. And multitasking? Folders? Email threading? White boy please.

The only thing anyone gives a shit about in the iPhone 4 is the improved processing and resolution, and yes, those two features do make the new model worth the asking price, but why did it take so long to get to these two sale-able improvements? Steve Jobs is a man who believes too much of his own hype.

I think that Australians, as a general rule, are much less tolerant of obnoxious busy-bodying than many cultures. When being told what to do, we get very angry indeed - regardless of why we're being told that.

I think like most wing-nuts he actually genuinely believes a "silent majority" of Australians agree with him.

Exactly. Fills me with murderous rage. Sorry, you are punishing me for having done the right thing by actually disabling my ability to skip an ad I've seen multiple times? On the product I've PAID YOU for? Are you people morons?

Yes, that would be what a rant is. A complaint without a solution. :-)

And no, I can't name a 'game of the year' because I can't think of a single game that's both pushed the boundaries of the medium and told a unique story. In fact, I can't think of any that fit in the latter category, never mind the first.

Not every year can have great games. But the way people are carrying on about MW2 and UC2, it's like they ARE one of these gaming greats. Which is where my issue. Either people have forgotten what brilliant gaming looks and feels like, or their standards are just terrifyingly low.
